Seven of Swords Across Decks ๐ด✨
It wasn't me.
The Seven of Swords is the card of deception and risk - either directed at you or carried out by you. Traditionally it pointed to betrayal, but many modern decks reinterpret it as necessary secrecy and careful timing.
1. Tarot for You and Me — Modern and inclusive
In this deck the theme of deception is shown by having the character wear a Colombina mask, made famous by the Venetian Carnival to allow wearers to move unnoticed and hide their true identity. The tattooed dagger on her forearm adds to the sense of danger.
Seven of Flags Vibes:
๐งช Key themes: Keeping secrets, hiding things, showing no opinion
๐จ Emotional tone: Sly, secretive
✨ Unique: In this deck the Minors have been renamed, so this is the Seven of Flags.
2. Sugar Skull Tarot — Western swagger
This bank robber is using a sugar skull mask to hide their identity as they steal from the bank. Some of their gains lie strewn behind them, forgotten in the rush. The Seven of Swords isn’t always a thief. Sometimes it’s a disguise.
Seven of Swords Vibes:
๐งช Key themes: Choosing who gets to see the real them
๐จ Emotional tone: Protective, hiding
✨ Unique: The Western flavour of this deck adds a rough and ready feeling.
3. Witches Cat — Looks cute, has depth
The cartoon like illustrations in this deck hide a surprising amount of depth. This cat didn't steal swords (Claws in this deck): she stole money, potions and crystals, the symbols of power and magic in the deck.
Seven of Claws Vibes:
๐งช Key themes: self satisfaction, over confidence
๐จ Emotional tone: 'that went well'
✨ Unique: The cat is showing seven claws between all its paws.
Reflection:
These versions show a card less about betrayal and more about control over information. The Seven of Swords can be the wisdom of silence - knowing when speaking openly would cost you too much. Which version speaks to you most clearly?
