Jul 14 - Tarot Characters: Nine of Swords (Pop culture)

๐Ÿƒ We’ve all lived the Nine of Swords. It’s that sharp, cold jolt at 3:00 AM when your brain decides that a minor work mistake is career-ending, an unanswered text means everyone hates you, and the dressing gown on the back of the door is definitely a ghost. The Nine of Swords is the ultimate 'mind monster' card - but to truly understand how this mental echo chamber operates, we have to look at a fear demon, a Time Lord, and a blindfolded comedian. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:

"Your task starts now." (Taskmaster)

Faced with an unknown task, many celebrities let their imagination get the worst of them - they spiral into their worst imaginings before even trying the task. Our thoughts can be our own worst enemy in some situations, trapping us in a cycle of our darkest thoughts.

Nine of Swords Vibes:

  • Imagined terror vs mild reality

  • The mind fills the blanks

  • When we can see reality the fear recedes

"Listen!" (Doctor Who)

The Doctor becomes convinced that a creature is hiding in the spaces we can't see, letting his belief drive him to mania. His fear feeds his belief and his belief feeds his fear until he can't get out of the spiral. This is the 3am spiral when our own thoughts turn against us.

Nine of Swords Vibes:

  • Mental overdrive

  • Our minds become the enemy

  • Every new fact becomes part of the delusion

Gachnar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

Gachnar is a demon who feeds on fear and insecurity, creating false realities for the Scoobies to keep them apart and afraid. Fittingly, when he's revealed, he's only a few inches high; his effect is completely out of proportion with his size. Our fears often seem bigger than they really are.

Nine of Swords Vibes:
  • Self doubt
  • Our insecurities grow huge
  • Our fears are in control

Jul 12 - 4 of Wands (Images)

Four of Wands Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place.

The Four of Wands is tarot’s ultimate sigh of relief. After the careful planning of the Two and the hopeful waiting of the Three, this is the moment when we can finally pause, look around, and celebrate how far we’ve come.

Traditionally, this card shows a joyful homecoming beneath a decorated archway, but different decks remind us that celebration and belonging can take many forms..

1. Everyday Witch Tarot — Urban Joy & Chosen Family
This deck replaces the traditional figures with a group of friends gathered at a cafe. This isn’t a grand ceremony - it’s the everyday joy of finding your people and creating a place where you belong.

Four of Wands Vibes:
  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Chosen family, modern milestones, city sanctuary, shared joy.
  • ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Grounded, inclusive, deeply warm, and unapologetically festive.
  • Unique: Shifts the traditional "homecoming" from a grand, royal castle to an accessible, relatable urban setting.

2. The Light Seer's Tarot — Radiant Connection & Free Spirits
Chris-Anne’s version bursts with energy, showing friends dancing beneath a canopy supported by four flaming wands. Here, home is not a building - it’s the feeling of being surrounded by people who let you be yourself.

Four of Wands Vibes:
  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Community, freedom, celebration, belonging, shared joy
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Joyful, exuberant, warm, liberating
Unique: By removing the idea of a physical home, this version shows that stability can come from the people who surround us. The “four walls” become the circle of people who make us feel safe.

3. Mindscapes Tarot — Atmospheric Harmony & Natural Sanctuary
John A. Rice removes people entirely and focuses on four fruiting orchard trees. The ladder and wheelbarrow show the care that created this abundance, but the moment itself is peaceful and still.

[Card Name] Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Peace, harmony, growth, appreciation, quiet achievement
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Serene, contemplative, content
Unique: This version finds celebration in the landscape itself. The absence of people reminds us that milestones don't always need an audience - sometimes peace is the reward.

Reflection:

Across decks, the Four of Wands reminds us that joy can look very different. It might be laughing with friends, dancing under the stars, or enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by what you’ve built.

What does celebration look like for you?

Rejoice in the journey. ๐ŸŒ™✨

Jul 11 - Cards that Sunburn

Some cards feel like sunshine. Others feel like sunburn. This post explores the tarot cards that overheat - emotionally intense, symbolically sharp, or just too much when you’re already raw. They’re not bad cards… but they don’t come with SPF.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Sunburn Archetypes

  • The Tower: The Sudden Burn You didn’t see it coming. Now everything stings. This card is emotional sunstroke - collapse, exposure, and the need to hydrate.

  • Eight of Wands: The Speed Burn Too fast, too soon. You were chasing momentum and forgot to pace yourself. This card leaves you breathless and blistered.

  • The Devil: The Temptation Burn You stayed too long in the heat. This card seduces, then scorches - especially when you ignore the warning signs.

  • Ten of Swords: The Drama Burn You thought it was just a little tension. Now you’re emotionally crispy. This card is the overreaction that leaves a mark.

  • Knight of Wands: The Impulse Burn Passion without planning. This card leaps into the sun, then wonders why it hurts. Charming, but reckless.

  • The Sun: The Joy Burn Yes, even The Sun. Too much light can be blinding. This card can overexpose emotional truths before you’re ready.

๐Ÿง  Reader Prompts

  • Which card burns you out?

  • Do you have a “sunburn deck” - one that’s too intense when you’re tender?

  • What’s your emotional sunscreen? (Temperance? Four of Swords?)

Jul 10 - Tarot Characters: The Devil (Pop Culture)

๐Ÿƒ The Devil may look like the big red guy from Christian teachings, but there's far more to him than that. He warns against allowing yourself to be controlled, about indulgence becoming greed, against believing the shine without looking for the shadow. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:

Ares (Xena and Hercules)

The Greek god of war, bloodshed and the thrill of victory. Ares groomed Xena into the perfect warlord and never really forgave her for turning her back on him. They spent years engaged in a dance where he tried to tempt, blackmail or entice her back to his side. Ares is the Devil as temptation to something you know is wrong, but feels good.

Devil Vibes:

  • Tempts people with the power they already crave
  • Turns strength into cruelty
  • Never lets someone forget what they used to be

Jareth, the Goblin King (Labyrinth)

Jareth represents the Devil as fantasy. He offers Sarah anything she wants, but it's all an illusion; accepting would mean binding herself to obey him. Even his first offer, a magical crystal, can only show her her dreams, not bring them to her. He reminds us that the Devil's offerings rarely have any real value.

Devil Vibes:

  • Makes temptation look beautiful
  • Offers dreams instead of reality
  • Hides the cost behind the desire

Hades (Disney's Hercules)

I know. The King of the Underworld is a bit obvious for this one. But it's not Hades' job that's placed him here; it's the way he goes about it. Hades is a salesman, and his victims never realise just what they've promised until it's too late. "You can have anything you want...and in return..." He reminds us that the Devil is a trickster, a liar who uses our own beliefs against us.

Devil Vibes:
  • Makes dangerous bargains sound reasonable
  • Uses charm to hide his true intentions
  • Knows exactly what people want - and how to exploit it

Jul 9 - Floating World Tarot mini review

“Imagine stepping into a Japanese print, where every card holds a moment of quiet beauty and reflection.”

The Tarot of the Floating World (Quarto Books) draws inspiration from traditional Japanese art, evoking the Ukiyo-e style and the tranquil beauty of landscapes, architecture, and daily life. The deck is minimalist yet expressive, capturing the essence of each archetype with elegance and subtle symbolism.

The Major Arcana offers serene, contemplative interpretations of classic tarot figures, while the Minor Arcana conveys human experiences and natural elements in delicate, painterly scenes. This deck is ideal for quiet, reflective readings and meditative spreads.

Card stock is smooth and durable, the box is sturdy, and the guidebook provides clear instructions and insights without overwhelming the reader, making it suitable for both beginners and seasoned practitioners.

Published by Quarto Books, international editions.

Verdict: Not a deck for high drama or flashy visuals, but perfect for contemplative readings, creative spreads, and anyone who appreciates elegance, minimalism, and a distinctly Eastern aesthetic in their tarot practice.

Jul 8 - Tarot Characters: The Knight of Pentacles (Pop Culture)

๐Ÿƒ The Knight of Pentacles is the steadiest card in the steadiest suit. He's hard working, dependable and faithful. Sure, he might not sweep you off into globe trotting adventures, but he'll be there when you need him without fail. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:

Jason Bates (Ocean Girl)

Jason spends four years protecting Neri and his friends from various evil organisations, pranks and diving emergencies. As (usually) the oldest of the group, he looks out for the others, organises them and makes sure things are going to plan. He's practical and clever, constantly learning new skills that will help them all, and he's quick to step up when muscle is needed.

Knight of Pentacles Vibes:

  • Learns whatever skills the situation requires
  • Keeps people safe through preparation and patience
  • Steps up because someone has to

Brienne of Tarth (Game of Thrones)

Brienne lives a life of honour and service in a world that mocks those concepts. But she never allows herself to be ground down by it. She stays true to herself and her beliefs and works hard for them.

Knight of Pentacles Vibes:

  • Keeps her promises even when nobody is watching
  • Chooses duty over recognition
  • Does the right thing because it is the right thing

  • Andrew Jacoby (Princess Diaries

Andrew is the perfect prince consort: polite, thoughtful, and perfectly happy to stand beside Mia rather than in front of her. He's hardworking, honourable and willing to spend his life one step behind Mia, supporting her in her work. He is the perfect Knight of Pentacles.

    Knight of Pentacles Vibes:
    • Supports others without needing the spotlight
    • Reliable and respectful
    • Builds a future through patience rather than grand gestures

Jul 7 - Tarot Myth #11 Reversals are mandatory/always negative

    ๐Ÿงญ The Myth

“You must read reversals.” “If you don’t, you’re not doing it properly.” “Reversed cards mean something bad.” “They’re warnings, blocks, or failures.”

    ๐Ÿ•ต️‍♀️ Where It Came From

    • Book-based rigidity: Many guidebooks treat reversals as essential, with fixed meanings.

    • Binary thinking: Upright = good, reversed = bad.

    • Fear of nuance: Reversals can feel messy, ambiguous, or emotionally intense - so they get labeled “negative.”

    ๐Ÿ’ก The Reality

Reversals are optional. You can use them. You can ignore them. You can read them as delays, internal shifts, softened energies, or alternate perspectives.

And no - they’re not always negative. A reversed Devil might mean liberation. A reversed Tower might mean the worst is over. A reversed Ten of Swords might mean you’re finally healing.

    Tarot isn’t binary. It’s layered.

    ๐Ÿงฐ Ritual Reframe

    • If reversals feel helpful, use them.

    • If they feel overwhelming, skip them.

    • You can explore nuance without flipping cards upside-down.

    • You can also flip meanings intuitively, even if the card’s upright.

There’s no reversal police. Just emotional logic.

    ๐Ÿง  Reader Prompts

    • Do you use reversals? Why or why not?

    • What’s the most surprising reversed card you’ve ever pulled?

    • How do you approach ambiguity in your readings?

    ✨ Final Thought

Reversals aren’t mandatory. They aren’t always negative. They’re just one more way tarot invites you to see things differently.

Whether you read upright only, reversed always, or intuitively mix both - you’re doing it right.

Jul 6 - Tarot Characters: Seven of Wands (Pop Culture)

๐Ÿƒ The Seven of Wands is about defiance, strength and the courage to stand up for what's right. It's the protest card, the card of openly fighting back. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:

    Enjolras (Les Miserables)

Enjolras famously loves nothing but his ideal of a better country. He stands firm in his beliefs, ultimately giving up his life for them. This is the Seven of Wands as a wall; challenged, pressed, and still holding the ground.

    7 of Wands Vibes:

  • Unshakeable conviction
    • Holds his ground no matter the cost
    • Inspires others to stand with him

    Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

Across the series, Hermione is often mocked and made fun of for her beliefs, whether it's SPEW or following the rules when breaking them would be easier. She's maybe sometimes a bit too strident for her own good, but she holds on to her beliefs and follows Harry loyally.

    7 of Wands Vibes:

  • Champions causes nobody else cares about
  • Won't back down from an unpopular opinion
  • Believes doing the right thing matters more than fitting in

  • Spiderman

The loudest voices in the city constantly want Spiderman gone. No matter how much good he does, they will never accept him - though they're quick to blame him when something goes wrong. Peter metaphorically rolls his sleeves and keeps showing up anyway to protect a city that hates him.

    7 of Wands Vibes:
    • Keeps fighting even when nobody appreciates it
    • Refuses to let criticism change his values
    • Always gets back up

Jul 5 - ๐Ÿชง The Rally Cry Spread

    ๐Ÿงญ Layout

Three cards. No reversals. No chill.

    1. What am I fighting for? Your cause, your emotional truth, your rallying cry. (Examples: Justice, The Star, 8 of Wands)

    2. What’s blocking me? The resistance, fear, or system that slows your march. (Examples: The Devil, Five of Pentacles, Four of Cups)

    3. What fuels my hope? The emotional battery pack. What keeps you showing up. (Examples: Temperance, The Fool, Queen of Cups)

Journal your cards as protest signs. What would they say? Would they whisper, shout, or hand out snacks?

    Saturday, 4 July 2026

Jul 4 - Tarot as Protest Signs

What if each tarot card marched with a handmade sign? What would it demand, declare, or disrupt? Which cards would soothe, which would rage? Who’d be swinging their signs at other people? (Please don’t swing your signs at other people.)

๐Ÿงญ Featured Cards and Their Signs

    • 8 of Wands: “Now Means Now!” The rallying cry of momentum, urgency, and rapid change. No delays, no detours - just direct action.

    • Justice: “Fairness Isn’t Optional” A demand for accountability, balance, and truth. She carries scales and a megaphone.

    • Five of Pentacles: “No One Left Outside” A protest against exclusion, poverty, and emotional abandonment. This card marches for warmth and dignity.

    • The Tower: “Let It Fall” A radical call to dismantle broken systems. Not chaos for chaos’s sake - but transformation through collapse.

    • The Star: “We Still Believe” A quiet but powerful sign of hope, healing, and emotional resilience. She’s the one handing out water bottles and hugs.

    • Seven of Wands: “I’m Still Standing” The lone protester holding the line. Defiant, exhausted, and absolutely not backing down.

    • The Devil: “Break the Chains” A call to name addictions, toxic systems, and emotional entrapment. This card doesn’t flinch from shadow work.

    • Temperance: “Balance Is Revolutionary” A reminder that healing, integration, and emotional nuance are acts of resistance too.

    • The Hermit: “I’d Rather Be In Bed” The protester who showed up, hood up, thermos in hand, and left early to journal. Not disengaged - just choosing solitude as resistance. Emotional clarity through quiet.

Not every protest sign is loud. Some whisper. Some nap. Some hand out snacks. What would your favourite card say? Let us know in the comments - we'll march together.

Jul 3 - Tarot Characters: The Emperor (Pop Culture)

๐Ÿƒ The Emperor is a father figure, a leader, a protector. Sometimes he's fierce, sometimes he's kind. Always he's strong. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:

    Mau (Nation)

Mau never expected to matter. He believes he has no soul, and then finds himself the only person capable of holding his shattered world together.

When catastrophe leaves him stranded with strangers who need food, shelter, and direction, he becomes the one thing the island no longer has: structure. His mantra - “does not happen!” - is less denial than defiance, a refusal to let chaos define what comes next.

    Emperor Vibes:

    • Steps into responsibility because no one else can
    • Builds order from ruins through sheer will
    • Protects his people even at the cost of his own life

    Gomez (The Addams Family)

Gomez Addams rules his household with enthusiasm, devotion, and absolute certainty that his family is exactly as it should be. He doesn’t ask them to change, shrink, or apologise - he expects the world to adjust around them instead.

When outsiders challenge his family, Gomez doesn’t hesitate. Not from anger, but from delightfully confident conviction that his people are worth defending exactly as they are.

    Emperor Vibes:

    • Fiercely loyal and openly affectionate
    • Protects through confidence rather than control
    • Creates a home where individuality is non-negotiable

    Sam Vimes (Discworld)

Sam Vimes would be offended to be called an Emperor. Deeply, personally offended. Possibly enough to start paperwork.

He is allergic to power, distrustful of authority, and permanently aware of what it does to people. So he builds his own safeguards: rules, routines, and an internal Watchman who never looks away. Ironically, this makes him one of the most dependable leaders anyone could ask for.

Vimes will arrest kings, armies, or whoever is convenient if it prevents harm. He will escort prisoners safely regardless of guilt or innocence. And no matter what is happening in the world, he will still try to be home in time for tea - because if he isn’t, something has gone very wrong.

    Emperor Vibes:

    • Protects people because it is non-negotiable, not because it is pleasant
    • Leads through principle rather than ambition
    • Holds the line against corruption - even within himself

✨ So: who wears the Emperor best - the one who rises to it, the one who delights in it, or the one who spends his life trying not to become it?

Jul 2 - The Summer Curiosity Spread

Summer is a season of exploration. Of wandering thoughts, open skies, and unexpected sparks.

This spread invites you to follow your curiosity - emotionally, creatively, spiritually. It’s not about productivity. It’s about play. Let your deck point toward what wants to grow.

    ๐Ÿƒ The Positions

    1. What Sparks Your Curiosity? What’s calling for your attention or exploration this summer? What idea, emotion, or mystery wants to be followed?

    2. Where to Explore? Which area of your life could benefit from curiosity or playfulness? Where might wonder lead to growth?

    3. How to Stay Adventurous? What practical step can you take to lean into curiosity? How can you keep the spark alive?

    ๐Ÿง  Reader Prompts

    • What kind of curiosity feels safe - and what feels brave?

    • Where do you tend to shut down wonder, and why?

    • What’s one playful experiment you could try this week?

Jul 1 - Renamed Cards: Pros and Cons

Renaming tarot cards can be liberating, confusing, empowering - or all three at once. Whether you’re working with a fandom deck, a trauma-informed reframe, or a poetic indie creation, renamed cards come with emotional and symbolic consequences.

Let’s explore the pros and cons - without judgement, just clarity.

    ✅ Pros of Renamed Cards

    1. Emotional Accessibility Renaming can soften emotionally charged archetypes. “Shadow” might feel more inviting than “Devil.” “Awakening” might feel more expansive than “Judgment.”

    2. Trauma-Informed Reading Renamed cards can reduce triggering language and offer gentler entry points for reflection. “Transformation” instead of “Death” can shift the tone from fear to evolution.

    3. Cultural Sensitivity Renaming allows decks to honour diverse spiritual frameworks and avoid religious overtones. “The Mentor” may resonate more broadly than “The Hierophant.”

    4. Creative Storytelling Renamed suits and majors can support themed decks - sci-fi, pop culture, elemental, or ensemble-based. They help the deck speak in its own dialect.

    5. Reader Empowerment Renaming invites you to question tradition and build your own symbolic logic. It’s a reminder: tarot is a relationship, not a rule book.

    ❌ Cons of Renamed Cards

    1. Confusion for Beginners Renamed cards can make learning harder, especially if you’re trying to cross-reference with traditional meanings or guidebooks.

    2. Loss of Shared Language Renaming may disrupt the symbolic shorthand used across decks, books, and communities. “The Glow Cloud” might be brilliant - but not everyone knows what it means.

    3. Emotional Disconnection Sometimes renaming softens a card so much it loses its edge. “The Tower” becomes “Upheaval” - but does it still carry the same emotional punch?

    4. Translation Fatigue If every card needs decoding, it can slow down your readings or make journalling feel like homework.

    5. Risk of Over-Sanitizing Renaming can sometimes strip archetypes of their complexity. Not every “negative” card needs a makeover - some are meant to challenge.

    ๐Ÿง  Reader Prompts

    • Have you ever felt more connected to a renamed card?

    • Have you ever felt lost or disconnected by one?

    • What balance do you prefer - tradition, innovation, or a mix?

    ✨ Final Thought

Renamed cards aren’t better or worse. They’re different. They ask you to listen in a new way - and decide what language feels true to you.

Jul 14 - Tarot Characters: Nine of Swords (Pop culture)

๐Ÿƒ We’ve all lived the Nine of Swords. It’s that sharp, cold jolt at 3:00 AM when your brain decides that a minor work mistake is career-end...
