The Lovers Across Decks 🎴✨

What if we rewrite the stars?

The Lovers is often seen as the card of romance, but at heart it's about making choices - choosing your person, your path or your new way of life. Across decks artists have imagined this in different ways.

Ace of Cups Across Decks 🎴✨

It's the beat that my heart skips when I'm with you

The Ace of Cups is the spark of light and love that starts any new relationship. It's a bright card in many decks. In others...not so much! Here's three looks at it across decks.

---

1. Rider Waite Smith — Classic depiction

The RWS card shows a chalice held in the palm of a hand, with a dove above it. The cup overflows with liquid, representing abundant emotion and possibility. This classic shows an open beginning - it could go any way.

Ace of Cups Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: Overflowing emotions
  🎨 Emotional tone: Bright, colourful
✨ Unique: The RWS is the basis for many other decks

---

2. Horror Tarot — Dark and mystical

The Horror Tarot leans on the tropes of horror rather than specific moments. The Ace of Cups shows an arm bursting from the ground, clutching a goblet. It is still overflowing - but is that blood?

Ace of Cups Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: Overflowing, overpowering
🎨 Emotional tone: Nothing stopped this arm from presenting its cup
✨ Unique: The Horror Tarot may be dark, but it's not negative

---

3. Liselle's Eternal Tarot — Pips and mantras

Liselle's shows a simple goblet standing alone under the mantra 'A new start for the heart'. The simplicity makes it easy to focus on the meaning.

Ace of Cups Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: New beginnings, new experiences
  🎨 Emotional tone: Gentle, simple
✨ Unique: Liselle's is a pip deck, with mantras to help with meanings

---

Reflection:
Across decks, the Ace of Cups encourages openness and warmth. It's about new feelings and new experiences.

Mar 15 - The Empress (images)

The Empress Across Decks 🎴✨

and the two into ten thousand things

The Empress is the mother card of the deck, and like a real mother she has many layers. Some decks focus on her fertility and gentleness, some on her ruthlessness. They're both truthful readings of her meaning.

---

1. Horror Tarot — a darker side

This card shows a plant bursting from the body of a young woman. Although it looks alarming, it's a sign of life enduring despite the circumstances.

Empress Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: Life finds a way
  🎨 Emotional tone: Persistence
✨ Unique: This deck uses imagery from horror movies to show tarot archetypes

---

2. Golden Art Nouveau — a bright side

This deck leans quite classic, with the Empress reclining on a throne in a field of wheat. This showcases the fertile, growing side of the Empress.

Empress Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: Fertility, growth, new life
  🎨 Emotional tone: Lush, comforting
✨ Unique: This deck uses gold foil as highlights on the cards, making it a luxurious choice

---

3. Soul Cats — an internal side

This cat is regal and queen like but holds herself at a remove from her subjects, the rabbit and hedgehog.

Empress Vibes:

• 🧪 Key themes: Oversight, taking care

🎨 Emotional tone: Care as an institution rather than personal

✨ Unique: This deck uses cats as all the main figures

---

Reflection: In each of these the Empress is concerned with taking care of the beings around her - whether that's by literally giving herself to their growth, or watching over them at a distance. The interpretation may change, but the deeper meaning holds steady. Which of these Empresses speaks to you today?
