Sep 12 - Eight of Cups (images)

Eight of Cups Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

Don't go in fear. Go with that lovely smile.

The Eight of Cups is about walking away. What you were doing is finished and there's no point trying to force any more from it. It's time to look towards the horizon and move on to newer things.

1. Sugar Skull Tarot — Western and gritty

This cowboy rides away from eight perfect cups. The draw of what's ahead must be very strong to entice him to leave them behind.

Eight of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Departure, choice, seeking something more
  • ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Restless, determined, quietly hopeful
  • ✨ Unique: Leaving behind the comfortable to follow the road ahead

2. Unfolding Path — Modern and clear

There's something almost jaunty in the way this man adjusts his hat as he strides away. The cups behind him have fallen over, but he doesn't look back as he walks towards his future.

Eight of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Moving forward, release, new horizons
  • ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Light-hearted, confident, optimistic
  • ✨ Unique: Knowing when to stop looking back

3. Patch Tarot — Colourful and deep

The five cups being left behind are leaky and dripping - no longer fit for what he needs. Ahead of him are three imaginary new cups; he's looking forward to finding them as he travels.

Eight of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Outgrowing, possibility, seeking fulfilment
  • ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Thoughtful, adventurous, expectant
  • ✨ Unique: Trusting that something better can be found, even when you can't see it yet

Reflection:
Across decks, the Eight of Cups highlights the courage needed to walk away from what no longer serves and towards an uncertain future. Which part of your life is no longer working?

Jul 20 - King of Pentacles (Images)

King of Pentacles Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

I'll be there for you

The King of Pentacles shows up, works hard and gets the job done. He's steady and reliable, not flashy. You can call him when you need help, and he'll help with exactly what you need - not talk you into some far-fetched revenge scheme. I'm looking at you, Knight of Swords.

1. Tarot for You and Me — Modern and inclusive

The Elder of Lanterns sits at his desk, signing paperwork. He knows what needs to be done; he's not flustered by his workload. He's ready to get it all done.

King of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Responsibility, competence, leadership, practical wisdom
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Calm, capable, dependable
✨ Unique: By placing the King in an office rather than on a throne, the deck reminds us that real authority often comes from quietly getting things done.

2. Sugar Skull Tarot — Wild West adventures

The King of Pentacles sits his horse, watching as his herd is wrangled. He's built an empire through hard work and knowledge. Now he gets to enjoy it.

King of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Stewardship, prosperity, patience, earned success
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Confident, grounded, accomplished
✨ Unique: Rather than focusing on wealth itself, this card celebrates the work and experience that created it.

3. Supernatural Tarot — Dark and thoughtful

Crowley, the King of the Crossroads in Supernatural, is a darker side of the card. He's certainly worked hard, and he has built an empire, but he's done it by exploiting people, taking advantage of them, and writing loopholes into his agreements. He's not the King we want to emulate.

King of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Ambition, control, influence, the shadow of success
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Commanding, calculating, unsettling
✨ Unique: Crowley explores the King's shadow side, asking whether success is still worth celebrating if it comes at someone else's expense.

Reflection:
Across decks, the King of Pentacles reminds us that success isn't just about what we build, but how we build it. Honest work, careful stewardship, and integrity create a very different legacy from success won through manipulation. Which version of the King speaks to you today?

May 12 - Four of Cups (Images)

Four of Cups Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

Same old days, same old scene

The Four of Cups is one of those cards that's hard to describe. In one sense it's about boredom, but in another it's about not missing the obvious because we're too busy complaining. Across decks, this is shown in different ways.

1. Lieselle's Eternal Tarot — Mantras for learning

Lieselle's is a pip deck featuring mantras to help beginners grasp the meanings. In this case, it reads 'Snap out of it', focusing on the distracted side of the card.

Four of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Apathy, distraction, emotional stagnation, self-awareness
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Blunt, reflective, slightly frustrated
✨ Unique: The mantra cuts straight through the fog of the card. Rather than focusing on sadness or boredom, it frames the Four of Cups as a moment of recognition - the realisation that we may be the ones keeping ourselves stuck.

2. Everyday Witch — Bright and cheerful

The Everyday Witch is rooted in normal life. Here the man is ignoring not only the fourth cup, but the cat about to attack his fish - so focused on his three cups he's missing everything else around him.

Four of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Tunnel vision, missed opportunities, emotional distraction, everyday disconnection
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Humorous, cosy, gently cautionary
✨ Unique: The cat adds a layer of comedy, but also urgency. The witch is so focused on what’s already in front of him that he misses both the offered cup and the chaos about to unfold nearby. It captures how the Four of Cups can make us overlook what matters.

3. Sugar Skull Tarot — Western flair

This deck uses western imagery to illustrate the cups. This cowboy can't see the fourth cup unless he gets up and moves - he'll have to take some action if he wants to complete his collection.

Four of Cups Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Dissatisfaction, inertia, longing for more, needing action
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Restless, dusty, quietly determined

✨ Unique: This version emphasises movement - or the lack of it. The fourth cup isn’t hidden or unreachable, but the cowboy has to actively change position to see it. The card becomes less about mood and more about the effort needed to shift perspective.

Reflection:

Across decks, the Four of Cups reminds us to evaluate opportunities and emotional fulfilment. Sometimes we become so focused on what’s missing - or what’s already in front of us - that we fail to notice what else is being offered.

What are you too focused on today? And what could you be looking at instead?

Apr 30 - Ace of Pentacles (Images)

Ace of Pentacles Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

A whole new world - a new fantastic point of view

The Ace of Pentacles is a new start, a new idea or job, a passion project for you to work on. Across decks, this is shown in different ways, but they all show the same idea.

1. Gaian Tarot — real world beauty

In this card a young fawn lies hidden among ferns. Everything is new to this animal; it's ready to start exploring this beautiful world.

Ace of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Beginnings, growth, potential, stepping into the unknown
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Fresh, peaceful, quietly hopeful
✨ Unique: The fawn captures that fragile, early-stage energy - this isn’t a bold leap yet, it’s the moment just before it. It emphasises readiness rather than action, like the world is opening up and waiting for you to take that first step.

2. Sugar Skull — Wild West vibes

The Sugar Skull tarot uses the tropes and imagery of the Wild West to present the cards. The Ace of Pentacles features an erupting oil rig - a literal source of life for the workers of the area, and a sign that there's plenty of work yet to do.

Ace of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Opportunity, abundance, resource discovery, hard work paying off
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Energetic, gritty, triumphant
✨ Unique: The oil rig reframes the Ace as something explosive and high-stakes. This isn’t a gentle beginning - it’s striking gold. It suggests that new opportunities can arrive loudly and demand effort, but the rewards are tangible and immediate.

3. Lieselle's Eternal Tarot — Pips with mantras

Lieselle's Eternal uses mantras to help beginners get to know the cards. The mantra here is short and sweet; 'The new start'. The card reminds us that the only thing standing in our way is ourselves.

Ace of Pentacles Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Self-belief, intention, new beginnings, personal responsibility
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Focused, encouraging, quietly empowering
✨ Unique: The mantra strips everything back to the core idea - you decide to begin. It places the power firmly in your hands, suggesting that the real “seed” of this Ace is internal rather than external.

Reflection:

Across decks, the Ace of Pentacles reminds us of the sheer joy a new project can bring - whether it arrives softly, suddenly, or because we choose it for ourselves.

When was the last time you felt that spark of possibility, like something new was just waiting for you to reach out and claim it?

Feb 17 - Seven of Swords (Images)

Seven of Swords Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

It wasn't me.

The Seven of Swords is the card of deception and risk - either directed at you or carried out by you. Traditionally it pointed to betrayal, but many modern decks reinterpret it as necessary secrecy and careful timing.

1. Tarot for You and Me — Modern and inclusive

In this deck the theme of deception is shown by having the character wear a Colombina mask, made famous by the Venetian Carnival to allow wearers to move unnoticed and hide their true identity. The tattooed dagger on her forearm adds to the sense of danger.

Seven of Flags Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Keeping secrets, hiding things, showing no opinion
    ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Sly, secretive
✨ Unique: In this deck the Minors have been renamed, so this is the Seven of Flags.

2. Sugar Skull Tarot — Western swagger

This bank robber is using a sugar skull mask to hide their identity as they steal from the bank. Some of their gains lie strewn behind them, forgotten in the rush. The Seven of Swords isn’t always a thief. Sometimes it’s a disguise.

Seven of Swords Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: Choosing who gets to see the real them
    ๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: Protective, hiding
✨ Unique: The Western flavour of this deck adds a rough and ready feeling.

3. Witches Cat — Looks cute, has depth

The cartoon like illustrations in this deck hide a surprising amount of depth. This cat didn't steal swords (Claws in this deck): she stole money, potions and crystals, the symbols of power and magic in the deck.

Seven of Claws Vibes:

  • ๐Ÿงช Key themes: self satisfaction, over confidence
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: 'that went well'
✨ Unique: The cat is showing seven claws between all its paws.

Reflection:

These versions show a card less about betrayal and more about control over information. The Seven of Swords can be the wisdom of silence - knowing when speaking openly would cost you too much. Which version speaks to you most clearly?

Jan 17 - Two of Swords (images)

Two of Swords Across Decks ๐ŸŽด✨

Should I stay or should I go now?

The Two of Swords reminds us that choice is inevitable. Avoidance can’t last forever. In the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, the figure holds two swords in an awkward stasis - arms crossed, body rigid. She can’t maintain the balance forever; sooner or later, a decision has to be made. Modern decks may show this idea differently, but the core message remains the same.

1. Sugar Skull Tarot — Death as part of life

Sugar skull masks are made lovingly and deliberately for Dรญa de los Muertos, honouring the dead while celebrating life. This deck embraces that spirit through bold colours and joyful imagery. Here, the figure seems ready to lower her swords and join the celebration - she simply has to choose to do so.

Two of Swords Vibes: water, swords, moon

๐Ÿงช Key themes: decision, personal, intimate
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: colourful, cheerful
✨ Unique: Like many figures in this deck, the Two of Swords wears a traditional sugar skull mask.

2. Nightfall Tarot — Dark and serious

Nightfall stays close to classic RWS imagery but renders it entirely in blacks, whites, and greys. The result isn’t gloomy - just stark and stripped back. Here, indecision feels heavier and more uncomfortable.

Two of Swords Vibes: water, swords, moon

๐Ÿงช Key themes: decision, discomfort
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: restrained, emotionally guarded
✨ Unique: The figure sits on an unmistakably uncomfortable bench - a subtle reminder that remaining still will soon become unbearable.

3. Galactic Star Tarot — Sci-fi meets everyday

The Galactic Star Tarot blends science fiction with familiar human experiences. In this version, the Two of Swords is immersed in a virtual reality game - and even there, choices must be made, echoed by the screen glowing behind her.

Two of Swords Vibes:

๐Ÿงช Key themes: indecision, overwhelm, paralysis
๐ŸŽจ Emotional tone: uncertain
✨ Unique: Though the sci-fi setting could feel cold or distant, it never does - the emotional dilemma is entirely relatable.

Reflection

Across decks, the Two of Swords reminds us that refusing to choose is still a choice - one that keeps us suspended in limbo.

What decision are you avoiding today?
