🃏 The Page of Swords is clever, sharp, insightful - but not always mature enough to handle their knowledge. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:
Willow Rosenberg (Buffy)
Willow isn't always the Page of Swords, but starting in season two and culminating in Buffy's resurrection (spoilers, sorry!) her arc is textbook Page. She finds something new to study and throws herself into it with joy and enthusiasm; then she allows it to consume her, assuming that knowledge = ownership. She needs to learn from her mistakes as well as her victories.
Page of Swords Vibes:
- throws herself into learning with genuine enthusiasm
- can mistake knowledge for wisdom
- needs to learn that being right doesn't mean having the right to act
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)
Sheldon is very intelligent. That's probably the problem. He can parse a physics problem or identify a rare insect, but show him a visible emotion and he freezes up. He can't conceive of other people having different likes and opinions than he does. Sheldon is a walking example of the fact that scientific intelligence and emotional intelligence aren't the same thing at all.
Page of Swords Vibes:
- sees knowledge as a substitute for understanding people
- analyses problems brilliantly but struggles with what can't be quantified
- needs to learn that other people's feelings are information too
Velma Dinkley (Scooby Doo)
Velma embodies the inquisitive, investigative side of the Page. When she sees a mystery, she wants to understand everything about it. She can be rigid and unbending - nothing is ever a ghost, even when it's a ghost - but her ability to question assumptions and put together small clues to reach a conclusion is second to none.
- asks questions until she understands what's really happening
- notices details that other people overlook
- trusts evidence, sometimes more than she trusts her own assumptions
