🃏 The Nine of Pentacles is the card of security, safety and success. It might be temporary, but for at least that moment, things are right with the world. Here are three characters who capture different sides of this card:
Anya Jenkins (Buffy)
Anya might be an ex-demon with more vengeance in her heart than we really like, but she knows how to run a business. Under her guidance the Magic Box flourishes and her friends always have the supplies they need to fight that week's demon.
9 of Pentacles Vibes:
Knowing how to turn hard work into material security
Enjoying the rewards of being good at what you do
Independence means being able to provide for yourself (and, if you're Anya, invoice everyone else)
Kiela (The Spellshop)
Kiela shows us that the 9 doesn't have to involve riches or power. By any measure, her island home is not rich. But Kiela creates a home for herself, finds her place and builds the life that makes her comfortable. She's happy and content with what she has.
9 of Pentacles Vibes:
Security doesn't have to mean wealth or status
Building a life that suits you can be its own kind of success
You can appreciate what you've created without needing it to be bigger or better
Morgana (Merlin)
The shadow side of the card. It might not last long, and she might have achieved it through betrayal and blood, but for a while Morgana sits on the throne of Camelot with everything she ever wanted within her grasp. It's an illusion built on fear and sand, but for a few moments, it holds.
Having everything you wanted doesn't necessarily mean feeling secure
The outward trappings of success can conceal a fragile foundation
Possession isn't the same as contentment
