Every deck has its characters — and the courts are where the drama lives. In tarot, these are your Kings, Queens, Knights, and Pages; in a playing deck, we’ve just got Kings, Queens, and Jacks. But don’t worry, they still manage plenty of mischief between them.
Kings are the decision-makers, the ones running the show. They’ve mastered their suit’s element — Hearts rule with kindness, Spades with intellect, Diamonds with practicality, and Clubs with energy.
Queens are the emotional core, guiding from within rather than commanding from above. When a Queen appears, it’s a reminder to lead through empathy, not ego (and possibly to pour yourself a cup of tea while you do it).
Jacks are the wild cards — the Pages and Knights rolled into one. Young energy, risk-taking, learning through doing... and sometimes, through not thinking it through first.
And then there’s the Joker, if your deck has one. Treat them as The Fool — limitless potential, joyful chaos, that “jump and see what happens” energy. If they appear, pay attention: the universe just winked at you.
